Co-Founder & Director of Product
Jenny serves as the Director of Product and is a Co-Founder of Aspen. Prior to joining Aspen, Jenny was Vice President at Ambrose, now known as TriNet Financial Services. Jenny co-led the Bay Area market development for TriNet’s PEO product that specific focused on the alternative investment industry. Jenny was previously in KPMG’s asset management group that provided audit, tax and consulting services for numerous alternative investment firms.
Jenny earned her BS in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting from San Francisco State University College of Business. She currently serves as Co-Chair for Help For Children’s West Coast Executive Committee, a global foundation, supported by the alternative asset management industry. Jenny also co-founded the Pacific Alternative Investment Group in February of 2016.
Jeff serves as CFO for Aspen. He is responsible for directing and overseeing all accounting and finance functions of the business. Prior to joining Aspen, Jeff spent nine years in KPMG’s financial services group managing audits of private and public companies. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the AICPA. He earned his BS in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.
Client Operations Senior Manager
Jenny serves as a Tax Manager and works closely with the Aspen Payroll, Operations, and Service teams to build, manage, and execute the payroll tax offering. Prior to joining Aspen, she was the Payroll Tax Manager at Sequoia Consulting Group, where she supervised the payroll tax team of the PEO service offering with specific concentration on tax operations and compliance. Jenny Wong began her career as a Claims Associate with Nava Benefits Solutions (formerly known as Flex-Plan Services) guiding participants through the complex world of employer sponsored benefit plans. Jenny earned her BS in Environmental Economics and Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
Benefist Account Manager
Gloria serves as the Benefit Account Manager at Aspen. Prior to Aspen, Gloria was the lead Benefits Analyst at a brokerage, where she led the renewal process for numerous companies. As a Benefit Account Manager, Gloria consults on all aspects of employee benefits. Her insight-driven approach is paired up with market knowledge to ensure clients are getting the most competitive benefits and rates in the marketplace. Gloria graduated with her B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
Rowena is the President of Aspen and manages all aspects of operations for the firm including, HR, benefits, IT infrastructure and recruiting. For our clients, Rowena specializes in designing and implementing corporate insurance and employee benefits programs.
Rowena earned a BA in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
David Leeds serves as Aspen’s senior account since February, 2019. David handles Aspen’s day to day financial operations and reporting.
Prior to joining Aspen, David served as the Finance and Accounting lead at Dairyvative Technologies, LLC, a Wisconsin-based dairy startup, overseeing all aspects of Dairyvative’s finance, accounting, human resources and IT functions.
David holds his Master’s in Accountancy from Bentley University.
Client Success Associate
Jacob serves as Aspen’s Client Success Associate. He is a hard working young professional and has experience in both the Non Profit and For Profit Sector. He has worked with high net-worth individuals and is a talented success associate who loves people and who works hard at everything he sets his mind to. Jacob has been with Aspen since early 2018 and knows the ins and outs of the company. Jacob graduates Indiana University- Bloomington from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a Batchelor’s of Science in Non Profit Management and a minor in Urban Planning and Development. School of Public and Environmental Affairs was recently ranked #1 for the Best Public Affairs program in the US.
Bob is the Interim CEO of Aspen and is also the Managing Partner of the Standish Group. Before forming Standish in 2007, Bob was the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Walden Venture Capital. Prior to Walden, Bob was the CFO at Robertson Stephens Asset Management and a Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers. At PwC Bob led the Bay Area Private Funds Group in providing audit, tax, and consulting services to venture, private equity, and fund-of-funds. Bob started his career at Ernst and Young in Boston and has been working in the investment management industry since 1993.
Bob earned an MBA from Boston University and a BA from the School of International Service at The American University. Bob is a Certified Public Accountant and member of the AICPA and California Society of CPAs.
Client Success Manager
Amy serves as Aspen’s Client Success Manager. She has been with Aspen since its conception in 2017 and has a deep knowledge and expertise of Aspen’s HR software and an even deeper knowledge of the field. She has more than 15 years experience with Benefits Administration and is adept at building strong relationships with clients, creating effective strategies and resolutions to improve the client experience. Amy is a licensed Health & Life Agent in all client associated states. In her spare time she is an avid cook and founder of a family owned spice company, Kick.
HR & Payroll Specialist
Emily Cavanaugh serves as the HR & Payroll Specialist at Aspen. Emily is a certified FPC with the American Payroll Association and has deep domain expertise in payroll processing. Additionally, she has experience in complex HR matters amongst a large scope of clients across various industries . Prior to joining Aspen, Emily worked for ADP TotalSource, a PEO, in both the payroll and support divisions. During her tenure at ADP, she became proficient in payroll processing, audits, issue resolutions, general quality control processes, and various other HR compliance matters across various state laws. Emily earned her BS in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
Kevin Fisher, Esq.
Kevin is the General Counsel for Aspen. He also serves as the General Counsel for Aspen’s affiliate company, Standish. Prior to Aspen and Standish, Kevin was a partner in the international law firm of Paul Hastings LLP. He began his legal career in San Francisco at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison where he was a long-time corporate partner. He has also played lead management roles in building and expanding international law practices, including founding the Paul Hastings – Houston office, before returning to San Francisco.
Kevin holds a Master of Laws degree in Banking & Corporate Finance from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a JD from the University of Tulsa College of Law, and a BA with distinction from the University of Oklahoma.
Vincent Calcagno is the CEO of Agile Fund Solutions, LLC. Vincent specializes in operational, financial, accounting, tax and consulting for hedge funds, private equity funds, venture capital funds, fund of funds, investment advisors, and family offices that sponsor these products. Leveraging his extensive operational experience from his dealings in the private and public sector of the financial services industry, he has both operated and advised entities on business structure and strategy, as well as the management of financial, operational and tax matters.
Vincent previously led KPMG’s Alternative Investments practice in Los Angeles, and prior to transitioning to KPMG as part of their strategic transaction with Rothstein Kass, held leadership roles as a member of Rothstein Kass’ Executive Committee, head of their San Francisco office, and Beverly Hills office Principal-in-Charge. He is the former chairman of Rothstein Kass’ Best Practices, and Learning and Development committees, was a member of the Human Resources committee, and was extensively involved with internal recruitment and professional development programs.
Vincent currently serves as the President and Board Member of the Water Buffalo Club, a Los Angeles charitable organization that supports children’s charities and hosts events that foster well-being for in need and underserved children in the local community; is a Committee Member for the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, an organization that focuses on educating to end the cycle of domestic violence and saving lives by providing intervention and prevention programs; is a Senior Member and former Treasurer of the Guardsmen, a San Francisco
service organization devoted to advancing at-risk Bay Area youth; and is a Board Member for Aspen, a San Francisco based administrative services organization focused on providing cost effective service and technology for HR and payroll activities.
Clint Nyberg, CPA (inactive)
Clint is a Co-Founder and Board Observer for Aspen. He is responsible for all coordination between Aspen and the Standish group. Prior to Standish, Clint was in Ernst and Young’s asset management group where he managed audits to numerous alternative investment firms.
Clint is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and earned his BS in Business Administration (emphasis in Accounting) from California State University-Hayward. Clint is a member of the AICPA.
